Strand waves down from the balcony.

Cogitatus bows before Theravan.

Theravan points at you.

Cogitatus thanks Theravan.

Strand says, "Somewhat later than I'd have liked, but. Come on up."

Cogitatus thanks Lothorial.

Theravan grins at you wickedly.

Strand grins back. "Good to see you. Thank you for coming."

Theravan says, "Oh, it's my pleasure. Besides, the topic of discussion is quite dear to me."

Lothorial says, "Whats the basis of the conversation again?"

Cogitatus says, "I'm Cogitatus, at your service. :)"

Cogitatus bows down graciously.

Theravan says, "A pleasure, sir."

Strand stands, and bows. "Strand Osric. An honor to meet you."

Cogitatus says, "Mutual, sir."

Theravan says, "I am Theravan."

Theravan smiles.

Strand waves down to Thorholm.

Theravan waves at Thorholm.

Theravan waves at Nim.

Nim greets everyone with a hearty hello!

Thorholm nods at Theravan.

Nim says, "Hi guys!"

Lothorial waves at Nim.

Theravan says, "Hello, master Nim."

Strand says over to Thorholm, "Pull up -- well, a piece of stone, anyhow. Hallo, Nim."

Lothorial says, "Hello Nim."

Cogitatus bows before Nim.

Nim says, "How are y'all?"

Thorholm says, "Greetings."

Cogitatus says, "I'm fine, sir."

Cogitatus says, "I'm Cogitatus. Pleasure to meet you."

Lothorial waves at Meris.

Cogitatus bows before Nim.

Nim says, "Nice t'meetcha too! I'm Nim!"

Meris says, "Allo, Loth"

Nim extends a hand up to the human, smiling cheerfully.

Lothorial says, "Greetings."

Ashyne greets everyone warmly.

Strand says, "Nim, will Rathandal be showing up? I'd hoped to have him; he's a good speaker."

Nim says, "Um... I dunno. I told him 'bout it, but I dunno if he is..."

Strand says, "Well, I'll hope."

Cogitatus says, "I was at Storytelling Night for the first time last week. I brought food for everyone then, as a means of introducing myself. I was concerned that I wouldn't have a chance to do the same here, but adventuring in the Wetlands with a friend, recently...."

Nim says, "'m sure he'd have a lot t'tell."

Strand blinks. "Food's good. Hallo, Meris; thanks for coming."

Cogitatus says, "...provided me with quite a lot of material for cooking. :)"

Meris half waves to Strand.

Cogitatus says, "I've got [Curiously Tasty Omelet]s for everyone. :)"

Nim says, "Like what kinda material? Murloc stuff?"

Meris says, "Welcome, but I do hope I'm not expected to speak *too* much."

Meris says, "I honestly have no idea what might be taking Veras."

Cogitatus says, "No, just raptor eggs this time. My time for hunting has been limited, recently."

Lothorial says, "Likewise, im hear for listening mostly."

Nim says, "Raptor eggs?"

Nim looks at Cogitatus oddly before shrugging.

Lothorial says, "Unless something sparks my interest of course..."

Nim says, "Well, I guess eggs are eggs..."

Strand says, "Oh, mmm. Seems unreasonable to expect everyone to say things all the time. And I'd try an omelette."

Cogitatus says, "Here you go. :)"

Theravan says, "They're actually rather interesting, Strand."

You wave at Jorii.

Cogitatus says, "Sadly, the only other foods I have are conjured water and rye."

Jorii waves at you.

Strand says, "The omelettes, Theravan?"

Cogitatus says, "Ah, Jorii, gald you're here. :)"

Theravan nods.

Meris yawns and curls up on the balcony, taking a short nap.

Theravan says, "The raptor eggs are...hmm. A strong flavor. But quite delicious. At least to this taster."

Strand examines it warily; says, absently, "I thought we'd give stragglers a few minutes to wander in, before starting."

Thorholm kneels down.

Theravan smiles. "Ah, thank you."

Cogitatus says, "You're welcome. :)"

Jorii thanks Cogitatus.

Strand says, "Hallo, Spiderheart and Aelaren."

Aelaren curtsies before you.

Spiderheart says, "Hello, Strand!"

Theravan smiles at Spiderheart, waving.

Spiderheart says, "And all."

Nim waves at Mlila.

Mlila waves at Nim.

Mlila says, "Hello, Nim. How are you?"

Cogitatus says, "Anyone else want an omelette? :)"

Nim says, "'m good! How bout you?"

Mlila smiles at Nim.

Mlila says, "I'm well."

Spiderheart says, "I'm full, but thanks...Cogitatus, wasn't it?"

Aelaren says, "im fine"

Cogitatus says, "Yes, Cogitatus. ...and you are?"

Spiderheart says, "You were talking about cooking withs omeone at the ball, and the name stuck in my head. I hope it goes with you."

Cogitatus says, "I'm well, thank you. :)"

Strand samples the omelette warily.

Cogitatus bows before Spiderheart.

Spiderheart says, "I'm Spider, or at least that's a good rendering of a long Elvish nickname."

Cogitatus says, "Pleasure to meet you."

Spiderheart curtsies before Cogitatus.

Theravan watches Strand, a impish grin on his face.

Spiderheart says, "And this is my fiancee Aelaren."

Theravan says, "Ah, Trinn!"

Trinn smiles.

Theravan looks over to Trinn and smiles broadly.

Strand blinks twice, carefully. "Spicy."

Trinn says, "Evening, all."

Spiderheart says, "Who doesn't cook, but enjoys sharing off my plate."

Strand smiles. "Trinn."

Cogitatus says, "Heh, I like to try to pronounce long names. I'll have to try yours, sometime. :)"

Tavion says, "hmm"

Tavion says, "everyone who hates me is here"

Tavion cackles maniacally at the situation.

Aelaren says, "Tavion! HI!"

Nim looks at Tavion oddly.

Aelaren waves at Tavion.

Tavion says, "hey"

Tavion waves at Aelaren.

Aelaren says, "how are you?"

Tavion says, "okay"

Spiderheart says, "The problem, Cogitatus, is that the human tongue doesn't really bend the right way. And breaking your jaw for the sake of a name seems carrying things to far."

Tavion says, "good, you?"

Trinn looks around at the crowd. "Quite a group!"

Aelaren says, "im doing great,thanks!"

Cogitatus laughs at Spiderheart.

Tavion says, "meeting of some sort?"

Cogitatus says, "Warning duly noted. :)"

Nim says, "Sorta. Philosophy discussion thing."

Strand says, "A discussion session, anyhow, mmm."

Tavion says, "heh."

Theravan raises an eyebrow. "I think human tongues are quite malleable."

Theravan smiles softly, his eyes sparkling.

Spiderheart says, "They are, Theravan, but have you seen humans trying to do the tripthong, twice in a row?"

Spiderheart says, "It's ugly."

Tavion says, "okay"

Theravan laughs at Spiderheart.

Tavion says, "know what to do?"

Theravan says, "Mmm. So it is."

Cogitatus laughs at Spiderheart.

Spiderheart says, "And it's good to have a medic or a druid on hand."

Theravan says, "Not really."

Aelaren smiled

Aelaren hugs Spiderheart.

Tavion says, "starting the summon!"

Spiderheart hugs Aelaren.

Theravan blinks. "Er..."

Tavion says, "dont worry..."

Nim waves at Edum.

Tavion bows before Edum.

Tavion says, "Hello ther"

Nim says, "Hi there!"

Theravan says, "Ah, there you are."

Strand says, "Hallo, Edum!"

Theravan bows before Edum.

Spiderheart says, "If you're going to work magic that weakens the fabric of the world and lets more demons in, summoning is certainly a good choice for it. At least get some return on the ivnestment."

Theravan says, "For a moment I thought you might have been lost in the Nether."

Cogitatus laughs at Spiderheart.

Tavion says, "My spells are too perfected"

Edum says, "Thank you, Friend."

Tavion grins wickedly.

Strand says dryly, "That's next time's topic."

Tavion says, "welcome"

Tavion says, "NO charge"

Tavion bows before Edum.

Spiderheart says, "Sorry, Strand, didn't mean to rush things."

Tavion says, "Good luck to you"

Edum says, "Ah! Thank you once more Friend, I am honoured."

Strand chuckles softly.

Edum bows before Tavion.

Tavion grins wickedly.

Tavion bows before Edum.

Trinn says, "Evening, Edum."

Edum says, "Eveing, Milady Trinn, it is good to see you, and you as well, Friend Theravan, I am honoured."

Edum bows his head slightly as he glances over at the two beside him, smiling faintly.

Cogitatus says, "Do any of the newcomers want a curiously tasty omelette? :)"

Trinn says, "How...curious?"

Theravan says, "Don't ask."

Nim says, "The curious taste is raptor eggs!"

Strand says, "Quite."

Theravan laughs at Cogitatus.

Trinn grins at Nim.

Cogitatus laughs at Trinn.

Trinn says, "Thank you Nim. And...I'll pass."

Theravan says, "It's an acquired taste, certainly, but I'm rather fond of it."

Tavion bursts out of the wall on his Felsteed

Theravan grins. "I've made enough of them recently...."

Spiderheart murmurs to the new arrival.

Strand glances at the sky, thoughtfully. "Few more minutes. And if the soothsayer's late beyond that, well, he might ought to have predicted it."

Edum says, "Excuse me, I am going to go change, I will return in a moment."

Spiderheart laughs.

Theravan nods solemnly. "He needs to put on his philosopher's robes."

Theravan smiles.

Nim quietly snickers to himself.

Nim says, "I have important lookin' robes too."

Cogitatus chuckles softly.

Nim says, "but I dun wanna go get 'em."

Cogitatus says, "Heheheheh...."

Nim says, "So I'll just have to look unimportant but with a nice hat."

Nim grins.

Cogitatus laughs at Nim.

Strand grins over to Nim.

Theravan laughs softly.

Trinn says, "You always have nice hats. I like...the hat on the dwarven gentleman, though."

Trinn points at Thorholm.

Theravan nods.

Spiderheart says, "Anything I have to look important in just makes me look ready to kill more things, and I'm _hoping_ it's not that kind of conversation."

Nim says, "S'nice hat!"

Thorholm says, "Thank you."

Aelaren laughs.

Cogitatus laughs at Spiderheart.

Spiderheart says, "Mother always said that bloodshed was a failure of rhetoric."

Nim says, "It has that whole "I use magic, 'm pretty smart" quality to it"

Cogitatus says, "Indeed. :)"

Nim says, "With the pointyness and everythin'"

Theravan laughs at Nim.

Cogitatus agrees with Nim.

Spiderheart waves at Lothorial.

Cogitatus says, "As I understand it, the topic for this evening relates to Elune and the Light, correct?"

Strand says, "War happens when the diplomats err? I've heard that; not sure I always believe it, but I hope for no bloodshed tonight."

Strand nods to Cogitatus.

Lothorial nods to Spiderheart.

Spiderheart says, "I'm not sure it's true on the big scale, Strand. More a personal matter."

Strand says, "Mmm."

Strand says, "This seems like enough people, and we've let some time pass, so let's be underway."

Spiderheart says, "If you punch me, the odds are really good that I missed the chance to avoid trouble. Things get tangled as numbers grow."

Cogitatus says, "Indeed, blood at a Philosophy discussion would be rather... messy, as far as philosopy goes."

Theravan says, "...But oddly fitting."

Theravan says, "Of that which stirs the heart of war, spirituality is deeply enmeshed."

Strand says, "The last time I did anything like this, which was the first time, people raised their hands. I'm thinking this time, raise your hand if you want to speak and you're having trouble getting a word in."

Spiderheart nods at you.

Cogitatus starts paying attention to Strand, as he brings the discussion to order.

Strand says, "And if the discussion needs guiding, I'll prod it from time to time."

Strand says, "The subject tonight is Elune and the Light; how are they similar, how are they different. I've heard some people claim they're aspects of the same thing."

Theravan grins at Edum.

Strand says, "I'd like to start by reading some of a letter that a friend of mine sent me. Not my own views, necessarily, but interesting ones, and they might provide a springboard."

Edum offers Theravan a crooked grin before he turns his head slowly, running his emerald eyes over the assembled people.

Strand rummages around; brings out a letter. Clears his throat, and reads. "It's my believe that Elune and the Light are perfect representations of the good in our respective species."

Theravan 's eyes narrow as he listens, raising an eyebrow.

Lady Katrana Prestor yells: Seize him! Seize the worthless criminal and his allies!

Strand says, "As such, they seem to essentially act as the same force. Their cause is to promote life and mercy, to aid and to grow."

Spiderheart murmurs, "Lady Katrana needs some more light, or moon, or something."

Strand keeps reading. "Elune shows more mystique, and is said to exist as a living being. The Light is more direct, and is said to exist only as an ideal."

Strand says, "But is there a difference between them? Are they separate entities? And does it even matter?"

Strand folds the letter and puts it away. "So. Who's first?"

Theravan raises his hand.

Spiderheart raises her hand.

Strand points at Theravan.

Spiderheart nods to Theravan.

Theravan smiles.

Theravan says, "Well, where to begin."

Theravan says, "First, I am somewhat biased."

Theravan says, "Obviously, like many of my brothers and sisters, I have a keen connection to Elune."

Theravan says, "It is a deep and spiritual bond, and a treasured one."

Theravan says, "Now, as to the questions before us."

Theravan says, "Before we are to answer the question as to whether or not a difference exists, we must first have a deep and meaningful knowledge of what the two things are."

Aelaren nods

Theravan looks to Strand. "Is there a time limit...? I don't wish to ramble on forever."

Cogitatus pulls out a pen and parchment, in case he wants to scribble down notes for later consideration.

Theravan smiles softly. "I tend to lose track of time when I discuss Her."

Strand says, "Well, I don't have an egg timer. Tell us what you think Elune is, the most important points, and we'll go from there?"

Theravan nods.

Theravan says, "Elune is, first and foremost, a Goddess. A manifestation of female divinity and the Lunar elements that represents."

Theravan says, "Those elements might be said to be passivity, but not laziness: simply meaning that Elune flows, much as water flows."

Strand tilts his head, listening.

Lothorial nods to veras.

Aelaren looks up to see Veras

Veras says, "Better late than never."

Aelaren waves at Veras.

Nim greets Veras with a hearty hello!

Theravan waves at Veras.

Veras waves at Theravan.

Strand says, "Oh, we've just started."

Veras says, "Good to hear!"

Nim leans over and whispers to Veras.

Nim nods at Veras.

Veras mumbles back

Theravan says, "To the Kaldorei, Elune is a benefactor. A mother. She is entwined in our very essence, our very existence. To us, the Moon is not merely a silver orb; it is a manifestation of Her divine light and glory."

Trinn glances over at Veras with a brief nod.

Strand looks up to Theravan. "A lot of distinguishing elements from the Light right there."

Theravan nods.

Theravan says, "I would say, primarily, the differences that I see between Elune and the Light begin with the practices of the followers."

Strand says, "Can we take that as a base? Perhaps get an opinion on the nature of the Light, now?"

Theravan nods again, thinking.

Spiderheart says, "I'd like to ask a question about terms."

Veras leans back and rests on the palms of his hands

Nim reaches into his pack and withdrawals a notebook and a pen. Flipping the book open, he begins to write, periodically stopping to listen to everyone.

Strand nods to Spiderheart.

Theravan looks to Strand, waiting.

Edum says, "I am not meaning to attempting to interreupt, Brother Theravan, but the differences between people are not the definition of power, look how one might practice with a blade versus another. Each is meant to slay and defend."

Spiderheart says, "I'm not sure that I understand what "divinity" and the like mean, nor am I convinced that they refer to anything in the Thousand Worlds and the Twistign Nether between them. I'll explain my uncertainty, and wait for answers."

Theravan listens quietly.

Spiderheart says, "Elune is, first of all, a person - not a mortal, but an individual thing with a personality, a history, tastes. The druids among us have met one of her husbands. She walks the world, when she's so inclined. She is a unique entity just like any of us."

Spiderheart says, "When I look at the powers that shape the world, I see more persons. Some of them very powerful and very old - the Ancients of our world, the demon lords of the Burning Legion, the strangers from other worlds."

Spiderheart says, "But they are, still, people."

Edum says, "She and the Light are just words, a civilizations rationaliztion of a concept or a grouping of a concept, Milady."

Veras shakes his head at Edum

Cogitatus says, "So, some believe that Elune is a person, others believe that she is only a concept?"

Spiderheart says, "And the power that comes from them isn't radically different from what happens when I cheer you on with one of my practiced shouts, or one of the wizards here passes along a bit of magical aid. It's one person to anotehr, or a person within space."

Spiderheart says, "To wrap up..."

Veras waves at Gimilberry.

Spiderheart says, "When I study what actually happens in the world, and why, I find conscious wills and personalities at work, behind and below the inanimate forces like these rocks. I don't undertand what "divinity" is apart from that, if anything, so it's hard for (more)"

Gimilberry bows before Veras.

Spiderheart says, "...me to grasp just what you do mean by the Light. Is it simply a person not yet known, or using that name, or something else?"

Spiderheart sits.

Theravan nods slowly, lost in thought.

Veras says, "I can answer that; if no one else can."

Spiderheart says, "Now there's a surprise."

Spiderheart grins.

Veras smirks

Theravan shrugs.

Strand nods to Veras. "Please."

Veras stands and dusts himself off

Veras says, "The religion of the light is based around a philosophy. A belief system; *not* a person or identifiable object."

Trinn nods.

Veras says, "The power people garner from it is garnered from the *concept* and the will behind it."

Spiderheart nods thoughtfully.

Veras says, "It has been proven that humans can surpass morality simply with willpower and stick to itness, don't mind my grammer."

Cogitatus says, "Would that be the will of the practitioners, or some independent will?"

Theravan grins.

Veras looks to Cogitatus

Strand says thoughtfully, "Or collective will?"

Veras says, "That is a question that plagues Priests."

Trinn raises her hand tentatively, then lowers it again.

Spiderheart says, "It seems an important one."

Cogitatus glances at Trinn, expecting her to speak.

Veras says, "But no one has ever seen 'will' as independent."

Veras says, "Can 'will' do something? Without a personified form?"

Trinn shakes her head slightly at Cogitatus.

Veras says, "I think that is the magic of the light."

Cogitatus says, "I'm sorry, I wasn't clear when I said 'independent will'. My fault."

Lothorial says, "I think 'will' is a behavior or tendancy, backed up by a belief in something."

Cogitatus says, "I meant, was it the will of the practitioners, or the will of some entity independent of the practitioners?"

Veras nods slightly and sits back down

Veras says, "Ah. If there is such an entity, we do not know of it."

Veras says, "I tend ot say there is not."

Cogitatus says, "I see. Thank you."

Theravan smiles. "You would not consider the Church to be somewhat independent of individual practicioners?"

Strand nods thoughtfully, then points to Trinn, questioningly.

Veras looks to Theravan and shrugs

Cogitatus says, "Not exactly. The Church is a collection of people, so the 'will' of the church is really the conbination of the wills of the people within it, or also of the God of the Church, if there is a God associated with it."

Theravan raises an eyebrow.

Veras looks to Cogitatus

Trinn frowns slightly.

Veras says, "There are virtues, the Three."

Veras says, "If I ever saw the light personified, I assume it would have three faces."

Cogitatus says, "Forgive my ignorance. What are these Virtues?"

Strand says, "Wait, wait."

Cogitatus waits.

Veras says, "Respect, Tenacity, Compassion."

Veras looks to Stand

Strand says, "Three Virtues, but -- aye, I think the Church versus the Light is a somewhat different discussion."

Cogitatus nods towards Veras as a gesture of thanks and understanding.

Nim nods to himself, listening as he writes in his notebook.

Edum shurgs subtly as he glances down at the stones before him,"I believe that Elune, the "Light", or whatever you wish to call a diety are all the samething, one "power" or "force" that our various civilations have given a form by naming it to better suit its

Veras says, "Granted, but there are direct connections if you buy my theory that the Light is just the will of the practitioners of the Church."

Edum people. Religion as an organized belief is flawed, it is something for one persons soul to measure and judge its worth and use."

Theravan smiles softly at Edum.

Spiderheart says, "One more question, if I may, Veras."

Veras looks to Spiderheart

Veras says, "Of course, I love questions."

Spiderheart says, "Is this an original theory, or does it have a history,a nd if so, what?"

Spiderheart smiles. "Even your magnificent ideas get nailed to a personality when I'm around."

Dallaben nods at Thorholm.

Aelaren giggles and hugs Spider

Cogitatus smiles.

Veras says, "It has a history,t he will of man is known to have *great* power. I use the Guardians of Tirisfall as an example/"

Spiderheart squeezes Aelaren's hand.

Spiderheart nods to Veras.

Spiderheart says, "I was wondering where that might fit in."

Veras grins wickedly at Spiderheart.

Veras says, "We do have the record for killing Titans."

Spiderheart says, "It occurs to me! Some here may not know the Guardians' history."

Spiderheart says, "If you were to summarize, it might do someone some good."

Veras nods

Cogitatus says, "That would be a good idea."

Spiderheart hushes herself up. "I've had my turn."

Cogitatus says, "I'm not entirely sure what you're referring to."

Nim nods.

Strand says, "Mmm, summarize, but then I'm going to redirect."

Veras says, "The Guardians' were a group formed by the combined efforts of the High Elves and the Humans inorder to ensure the Burning Legion never invaded our world."

Cogitatus says, "Ah, yes, I think I remember the history, now. Medivh was the som of the last Guardian, as I recall."

Veras says, "Every generation there was *one* specific person who was the Guardian for that time."

Veras nods to Cogitatus

You are now the group leader.

Veras says, "Medivh's mother defeated Sargeras is battle; he may have had alterior motives, but still a feat."

Veras looks to strand

Veras says, "If i go any deeper I will be here all night."

Trinn nods over the side of the wall at Alerac.

Veras says, "Feel free to redirect."

Cogitatus laughs at Veras.

Alerac tosses Trinn a "shh" glance.

Strand grins. "Not a bad topic, but aye. Hm. So, Trinn, you've more experience touching the Light than anyone I know on this balcony. Thoughts?"

Theravan smiles at Trinn.

Trinn pushes her hair back from her face. "Honestly...I'm no philosopher. I simply know what I experience when I do as I do."

Trinn glances around. "It doesn't feel like just /my/ will. I've trained, aye. I've worked hard. But when Light comes to me, it simply comes."

Cogitatus says, "A will other than your own?"

Trinn says, "If it's my own will, I'm not conscious of it. I mean...I'm the one who focuses it, aye? I point my hands."

Cogitatus smiles as he listens.

Trinn says, "But...resurrection? At /my/ will? I doubt that."

Cogitatus laughs at Trinn.

Cogitatus says, "Good point. :)"

Trinn flushes. "Later. I'll say more later, I think."

Spiderheart says, "Not sheer persistence and not wanting the other oen to get away yet?"

Spiderheart chuckles.

Trinn glances at Spiderheart. "Persistence matters, of course."

Cogitatus nods at Trinn.

Lothorial says, "The light is rather choosy of its followers."

Strand glances to Lothorial, interested.

Trinn gratefully nods at Lothorial. "I'm done for the moment."

Lothorial says, "The light does not embrace everyone."

Saral outlines a cobblestone with her foot, listening intently.

Saral says, "Of course it doesn't."

Lothorial says, "Myself included."

Saral says, "You have to be willing to accept it."

Nim says, "I always thought people who followed the Light just learned how t'do it... I din't think it chose them..."

Lothorial says, "Many priests and paladins train their entire lives and the light will never embrace them."

Strand says, "What's the difference between that, and not everyone having the aptitude for the arcane? Or, more mundanely, how some can strategize and some can't?"

Meris rouses herself from her nap and tries to appear as if she was paying attention all along.

Strand settles back, listening again, looking apologetic.

Lothorial glances at Meris laughing slightly under her breath.

Saral says, "Don't get me wrong. I'll admit I don't invest too much faith in the life..."

Cogitatus subtely offers Meris some food, as a means to staying awake.

Spiderheart murmurs to Meris, "It's okay, we're coming back for your other foot later."

Saral says, "But I've hung around paladins too much."

Saral smirks.

Saral says, "From what I see..."

Meris raises an eyebrow at Spiderheart.

Lothorial says, "Not aptitude, the light simply does not embrace some of its followers."

Theravan waves at Silverdawn.

Saral says, "The Light will take in anyone who will accept it."

Silverdawn smiles at Theravan.

Cogitatus says, "By "embrace", do you mean the kind of thing that Trinn experiences?"

Lothorial says, "Yes."

Spiderheart says, "It seems like there's some support for Veras' explanation here."

Cogitatus nods quietly.

Saral says, "And there may be some who might be trained into wielding it. From what I can gather."

Trinn says, "Trained, aye. But that doesn't mean that it originates with those who wield it."

Saral looks up from her cobblestone, shifting positions.

Spiderheart says, "No, but it's interesting."

Lothorial says, "From personal experience the light does not come to me, although I have worked for it."

Saral says, "What I've always been curious about..."

Saral says, "I take it most everyone here has been to the Scarlet Monastary, correct?"

Theravan nods solemnly.

Spiderheart says, "Oh yes."

Cogitatus says, "I'm afraid that I have not."

Nim nods.

Strand says, "Not the monastery itself, but other outposts of the Crusade."

Cogitatus says, "I'm not even sure where it is located."

Lothorial says, "In the haunted Tiristfal Glades."

Spiderheart says, "On the wrong side of the road. In a big way."

Meris shifts slightly, glancing over at Veras.

Cogitatus checks his map.

Theravan laughs at Spiderheart.

Saral says, "The "paladins" of the Scarlet Crusade are able to wield, what looks to me to be the same light that Trinn speaks of."

Saral says, "But it they have *surely* fallen from it from their acts."

Strand sends a warm grin to Felena.

Theravan smiles at Felena.

Spiderheart says, "That's actually what got me wondering about the whole question, Saral."

Nim nods at Saral.

Felena smiles and waves quietly to those gather as she takes a seat next to Saral.

Aelaren greets Felena with a hearty hello!

Lothorial says, "The scarlets are merely overzealous fools, corrupted from the inside, a tool of the burning legion."

Gimilberry looks at everyone around him

Spiderheart says, "Given the real, obvious charity and goodness of the Light's champions, and then the same power int he hands of those who, um, aren't."

Strand says, "I know a man who claims to be a paladin who's certainly slipped from that here in Stormwind. Who wants to express a theory on this one?"

Meris says, "Strength of will over belief in the Light anymore, it seemed..."

Saral eyes Lothorial. "Of course. We know this firsthand."

Veras says, "I don't want to monopolise the debate but I have two explinations for the Crusade."

Gimilberry clears his throat. "C..c-can I say something?"

Strand grins at Veras. "

Strand says, "People who haven't spoken first, then I want to come back and hear your thoughts."

Veras looks to Gimilberry

Trinn smiles at Gimilberry.

Veras says, "Of course."

Gimilberry bows down graciously.

Strand points back to Gimilberry, cheerfully.

Gimilberry says, "Miss Saral says that the Scarlets seem to use the same light as what most Paladins use, correct?"

Saral looks to the gnome.

Meris nods to Gimilberry

Gimilberry says, "So, what if the Light is just a tool people use in order to believe in themselves? It may not actually be something, but it helps people be determined."

Gimilberry says, "The Scarlets say the light is with them."

Saral considers this.

Gimilberry says, "But, according to what has been said, the Light should have forsaken them."

Cogitatus says, "That would seem to be in-line with Varas' theory, Gimilberry, if I understand Veras correctly."

Gimilberry says, "So, what if the Light is inside all of us, and we just use it in different ways?"

Gimilberry says, "We all have our different views of what is right and wrong."

Strand says, "That's the will argument, isn't it? But... mmm. "

Gimilberry looks embarrased

Gimilberry says, "Im sorry.."

Theravan raises his hand softly.

Meris shoots Gimilberry a reassuring smile.

Saral mulls this over.

Cogitatus says, "Don't be. We're here to discuss, remember? :)"

Saral says, "That's an interesting take."

Strand points to Theravan.

Spiderheart ponders.

Nim fidgets a bit, before raising his hand.

Theravan says, "I was going to say, briefly...that it seems as though we have at least two definitions for Light."

Lothorial smiles at Nim.

Theravan says, "Light as an external force: Paladin as a channeler, a recipient of that force - a lens, so to speak."

Meris says, "The theoretical concept versus the application?"

Theravan looks to Meris, and then finishes what he's saying.

Lothorial says, "The light and darkness have tools they use, a lens as you say."

Gimilberry tries to think

Theravan says, "Or, Light as a internal force: Paladin as a focus not of Light, but of will, which is transmuted, perhaps, into Light and that power."

Theravan says, "Perhaps the belief in Light is what gives a true believer the powers that they have....?"

Strand says, "Aye, I think that's the two main lines of belief. Hm. I'm raising my own hand, but after Nim."

Nim says, "Alright then! Well... for the "Light is an external source" thing... if its an external source and paladins can channel it and stuff, I imagine its cause of their trainin'."

Meris says, "If they believe firmly in their own *rightness* it seems to matter not whether it conforms to traditional concepts of such"

Nim says, "Theoretically, anyone who trained enough could use th'Light. So what determines who can? Is it just an open pool of energy that can b'used?"

Veras rests on his hands merily

Theravan 's eyebrow raise, considering this.

Nim says, "or is there a force there that kinda determines who can and who can't? mebbe even a person or somethin'."

Lothorial says, "I think the light chooses its users."

Gimilberry says, "But.."

Theravan says, "..Then that means the Crusade is chosen."

Meris blinks at Theravan severatl times.

Gimilberry says, "If the Light Chooses its users, why would it choose both the Crusade and the Church, if they are both going to fight?"

Nim says, "If it chooses its users, that means it chooses the Crusade... and if the Crusade is actually wrong, it means that they just know how t'tap the power there."

Nim says, "So could anyone who knew do it, and its just a church secret or somethin'?"

Nim shrugs a bit.

Cogitatus says, "...unless the Crusade is actually drawing power from something other than the Light."

Lothorial says, "But on the basis of good and evil, which is something we wont get into..."

Strand says cheerfully, "Not necessarily. Another option there. Veras, you've been terribly patient."

Spiderheart says, "Nim, the idea of one person being better than another at that isn't in itself any more remarkable than the fact that some people are much better tailors than I am."

Saral eyes Gimilberry. "I heard an explanation to that once."

Spiderheart stifles herself again.

Veras looks to Strand

Shaun says, "But the crusade *think* they're doin' good. Maybe it has tah do with intentions?"

Gimilberry cocks his head at Saral

Veras says, "I am happy to listen, I can chime in when we get stumped or too comfertable wiht our idea."

Nim says, "but 'm not talkin' about "being better", miss elf. Thas not what I was gettin' at..."

Lothorial says, "Right, who is to say the crusade is evil, they go against what others believe in, therefore they are evil?"

Saral says, "See, at one point in time, the paladins of the Crusade *were* of the Church."

Strand grins. "All right. I like what Cogitatus said; that's my third option in this. If we postulate the Light as an external thing, there's nothing saying that there might not be darker powers of similar nature."

Cogitatus nods.

Cogitatus says, "The Burning Legion, for example."

Veras says, "No matter what we consider The Light. The Shadow is it's mirror."

Theravan nods at Veras.

Saral says, "They of course were blinded by retribution or zeal or whatever the hell have you and took a path towards acts that the Light fights against..."

Nim says, "Unless its the same source and all that changes it is intention..."

Lothorial says, "And the shadow chooses its users as well."

Strand tilts his head, listening to Saral.

Nim says, "I really dunno a lot 'bout these kinda things..."

Veras grins

Nim blushes and shuts up, realizing he's interrupting.

Lothorial smiles at Nim.

Veras says, "Then perhaps....the Crusade Draws upon The Shadow."

Gimilberry says, "But.."

Lothorial says, "Oh heres an idea."

Theravan says, "Ah, now *there's* an interesting idea."

Gimilberry says, "They think what they are doing is Right."

Meris says, "Without realizing it?"

Veras says, "That was my first was to explaint he crusade."

Gimilberry says, "While others think it is wrong."

Veras nods to Meris

Lothorial says, "A shadow priest is still able to use the light."

Saral says, "But the Light is pure and good and such... and will *never* abandon the one who embraces it... even when it is used in a way that is wholey unjust."

Spiderheart says, "Hmm, Lothorial."

Saral says, "You must abandon it first."

Strand says, "Hm. Saral... hm."

Theravan says, "And, how do we know truly if the Crusade is of the Light?"

Theravan says, "Perhaps the Shadow has merely manifested itself in a familiar form that they can wield and understand."

Trinn wraps her arms around her knees, looking thoughtfully from speaker to speaker.

Gimilberry says, "Then why would they continue to call it the Light?"

Nim says, "S'just a word."

Saral says, "Well. Shadow manifests in Destruction."

Spiderheart says, "When you make a career of killing people for the sin of being something they are in fact not, while harboring the things you say are your real targets, you've left the Light some ways back. Or so I'd guess."

Nim shrugs. Who knows?

Meris says, "Does it ultimately matter what their methodology is?"

Felena agrees with Spiderheart.

Silverdawn weaves her fingers together on her lap, looking down at a few daisies around her between silver strands of hair, listening with interest.

Theravan says, "But, my point is....the Light as concept and the Light as powers granted is rather different."

Strand says slowly, "Deception. But -- what Saral postulates implies that the Light is innately merciful. Redemption."

Saral says, "The only way a warlock can heal himself is to consume a healthstone, made from the *soul* of his victim."

Lothorial says, "Merely different means to an end."

Theravan murmurs, "Or he can use bandages."

Theravan smiles at Saral.

Cogitatus chuckles quietly in reponse to Theravan.

Saral says, "Or by tapping the lifeforce directly, but the means is the same. Taking from another, destroying it to empower yourself."

Lothorial checks to see is Veras has a booboo.

Cogitatus ponders the situation.

Saral says, "I have spent a lot of time with the Crusade..."

Theravan listens quietly to Saral.

Saral says, "And if you observe carefully, they only heal *themselves*"

Cogitatus says, "They do not heal others?"

Lothorial says, "Using the light for self gain."

Cogitatus says, "...and by what power do they heal? Forgive me, I know little of the Crusade."

Spiderheart says, "I thought I've seen them heal each other. Or is that still "themselves" for this purpose?"

Cogitatus says, "That's probably still "themselves" as a group, for this purpose, I assume."

Theravan nods.

Lothorial says, "Also"

Gimilberry clears his throat

Cogitatus shuts up and listens.

Saral eyes Spiderheart, blinking. "Well, that kind of destroys the arguement I was about to take."

Gimilberry says, "Can i say something about them only healing themselves?"

Lothorial says, "They wage war against the undead, whom the believe are evil."

Aelaren says, "OH!...I need to leave for a while...I will try to be back soon...see you all later"

Spiderheart hugs Aelaren.

Aelaren hugs Spiderheart.

Meris trails her eyes between all the others within the circle, pondering quietly.

Aelaren loves Spiderheart.

Cogitatus waves goodbye to Aelaren. Farewell!

Spiderheart says, "Go safely, love. See you later."

Aelaren says, "ok,love"

Strand says, "Is healing themselves a moot point, based on Spider's testimony?"

Aelaren says, "i will try to be safe"

Cogitatus listens to Gimilberry.

Strand glances around, questioningly.

Spiderheart says, "If you kill any demons, let me know how it goes!"

Saral says, "Not really. I am going off my own experience."

Aelaren yells, "I will"

Gimilberry says, "I have a good friend of mine, he is a very strong Hunter...name is Kathadien, dont know if any of you know him....but he has told me storied of the Monastary.."

Shaun says, "I've seen them heal, an' even ressurect others, I beleive."

Lothorial says, "Point is, the crusade thinks they are doing right by cleansing Lordaeron."

Spiderheart says, "I don't think it's much of a stretch from "just me" to "just me and my closest fellow fanatics", and don't think it cuts against Saral's point."

Strand listens to Gimliberry.

Cogitatus chuckles quietly in response to Spiderheart.

Gimilberry says, "One story he told me, he had gone into the Monastary to kill the Crusades Commander.."

Gimilberry says, "Mograine, I think his name was."

Meris says, "perhaps once the tricks for channeling the Light are learned -- they are still usable through sufficient application."

Veras nods to Gimilberry, knowing what is comming next

Gimilberry says, "He recalled that once they had brought the Commander down, somone by the name of Whitemaine came out."

Gimilberry says, "She Ressurected Mograine, and he continued to fight."

Theravan shudders, remembering.

Gimilberry says, "So I dont think the thought of them only healing themselves is correct.."

Saral eyes Gimilberry. "Only when she was about to fall herself, however."

Strand says, "Mmm. Well -- let's take a step back from the particular, though."

Meloria looks tipsy.

Gimilberry nods to Saral

Cogitatus says, "We've been discussing the Light at some length. Perhaps we should discuss Elune, now?"

Gimilberry says, "As I said, that is just what I have been told..."

Theravan grins.

Cogitatus looks to Strand.

Shaun says, "Realistically they still are o' thah mind that they are furtherin' thah light. They still beleive the only ones they 'ave struck down are un-savable evil. Maybe thah light is based more on thah heart, than thah truth?"

Veras stifles a yawn

Eruk looks tipsy.

Gimilberry nods frantically to Shaun

Veras says, "I still say that it could be the Shadow, or perhaps they can only draw on a part of the light."

Gimilberry says, "Thats what I was thinking!"

Veras says, "Tenacity *is* one of the virtues."

Meris fidgets with the hem of her dress.

Cogitatus says, "All plausible theories."

Spiderheart says, "I find that appealing, Veras. There usually being more than one way to get to a destination."

Strand grins dryly at Cogitatus. "Aye. The Light has a deal of possibilities around it. So -- what of this is true for Elune, if any? Are there fallen priests of Elune?"

Cogitatus says, "Come on down. :)"

Spiderheart says, "I suppose that dissecting some Crusaders in search of Light-receptive organs would be right out?"

Cogitatus says, "Plenty of space on the deck. :)"

Theravan blinks.

Strand says, "That's right, Spider. No bloodshed tonight."

Spiderheart says, "Yes, Strand, there are fallen priests of Elune, or something close to it."

Cogitatus listens.

Spiderheart says, "There are certainly corrupted druids, and of course the arcane seekers among us..."

Theravan nods slowly.

Meloria seems to be sobering up.

Cogitatus says, "...and they are still able to draw power?"

Nim says, "Aren't druids somethin' different from priests though?"

Veras says, "Ah, I have a quam with that."

Spiderheart says, "Have any of you run into the Cult of the Fang, in Kalimdor? The druids of that order have most or all of the usual powers, and a few extra, and are rotten to the core."

Veras nods to Nim

Strand says, "Do druids worship Elune in the same way as priests?"

Eruk seems to be sobering up.

Spiderheart says, "I do agree that it's not quite the same as priesthood, and am thinking."

Veras says, "No, Druids do not gaint heir power form Elune."

Veras says, "They draw it from Ysera."

Theravan nods at Veras.

Shaun says, "Druids draw specifcally from nature, aye?"

Spiderheart says, "Well, ask five druids about that and you'll get eight opinions."

Veras says, "The Emerald Dream, that is why they have to sleep."

Veras says, "To pay back The Dreamer."

Cogitatus laughs at Spiderheart.

Meris leans back on her hands and listens to Veras.

Cogitatus mutters "five druids, eight opinions".

Veras says, "And you are probably right Spiderheart."

Lothorial says, "One must also seperate the differences between the turen and elf druids."

Spiderheart says, "To be honest, I'm not thinking of corrupt priestesses - or priests - of Elune right now, but I think that's sort of an accident of alertness. Ones headed that way get killed when they start making trouble in a big way, rather than being able to set up."

Lothorial says, "Tauren, rather."

Spiderheart says, "The Crusade wouldn't have gotten this far if it weren't for the tragedy of the Third War and resulting chaos. Ordinarily something like that would have been put down."

Saral mutters something of Uther.

Meris nods at Spiderheart.

Spiderheart says, "Or at least driven underground to operate under various aliases."

Felena nods at Spiderheart.

Spiderheart says, "So one might well find the equivalent in our history after the Well of Eternity was destroyed, or for that matter among the scattered survivors of Quel'Thalas."

Spiderheart says, "And - nearly done!"

Strand says, "So... mmm. I've read that Tauren druids and Kaldorei druids are remarkably similar. But study of the former is, ah, difficult."

Strand grins, and listens further to Spiderheart.

Spiderheart says, "And I take the modern existence of bad druids to suggest that bad priests are at least possible for us."

Spiderheart says, "That's all. For now."

Spiderheart sits on her hands.

Cogitatus says, "If I may interject a moment?"

Strand points at Cogitatus, cheerfully.

Cogitatus says, "My friend, here, is a bit shy about speaking, but he did whisper an interesting comment to me."

Cogitatus gestures to the paladin on his left.

Cogitatus says, "Namely, that a light wielder and sometimes use the shadow, but yet still be in the Light."

Cogitatus says, "Likewise, that a Shadow weidler can sometimes use Light, but still be in the Shadow."

Cogitatus says, "I'm not sure if it's true or not, but it is worth examing for a moment."

Lothorial says, "Thats an interesting topic."

Cogitatus says, "Does anyone else here think that such a thing is possible?"

Meris eyes Jorill curiously.

Spiderheart says, "That _is_ interesting."

Strand says, "I think Saral's point regarding the Light not leaving one has bearing on that."

Strand gives Felena a thoughtful look.

Lothorial says, "From personal experience."

Conol raises his hand in the air.

Strand points at Conol.

Meris says, "oh, definitely."

Conol says, "Sorry coming late, but I think such a thing is possible, but dangerous, look at the path Arthas walked"

Cogitatus pays attention to Conol; thinks he recognizes him from Story Night.

Strand says thoughfully, "Characterize that path, please."

Lothorial says, "Allignment with the shadow and allignment with the scourge are 2 entirely different things however."

Conol says, "Well, I don't recall if he was a full knight of the silver hand"

Lothorial says, "I believe a student of Uther himself?"

Conol says, "Aye, but he did start by using things that a student of light wouldn't"

Felena frowns, fidgeting slightly in her seat.

Saral looks to Felena.

Strand says, "Dame Felena?"

Meris says, "Powers of Shadow are no more corrupting necessarily to a paladin than acts of maliciousness."

Felena says, "Ah... is the sir finished? I should hate to interrupt."

Conol is listening!

Strand grins at Felena. "Floor's yours."

Felena says, "Well... I cannot truly speak for the powers that evil men use. There are many options. What I know is that the Light I believe in cannot easily be corrupted... for every power I have is based on virtue."

Felena says, "Without having a deep virtue, and an understanding of that virtue, the powers cease to have affect."

Felena says, "This is clearly not the way that the Crusade, or others who pretend to goodness but do not hold to it, may use."

Meris furrows her brow, appearing rather unconvinced.

Litania yawns.

Strand says, "So, Dame Felena, what does the Crusade draw on? "

Veras holds up a finger and opens his mouth but snaps it shut again

Felena says, "Well, there are only two possibilities that I see. Either they draw upon the energy of Shadow... or they have some magical technique to steal energy from a divine source."

Felena gives a nod to Veras.

Lothorial rolls back and forth on her knees uneasily.

Strand looks rather thoughtful. "Speaking as an arcanist, I know techniques that affect the energies of the Light. Stealing it... perhaps not a stretch. Veras?"

Veras says, "You say it has to do with the deep understanding of a virtue. They do have a deep understanding of *one* of the Virtues. Tenacity; persuit of evil above all. Perhaps this understanding may be enought o grant them power?"

Theravan looks over to Stardancer and smiles.

Stardancer smiles at Theravan.

Felena says, "Oh, that could be possible... but that would only give them ability over one area. Thoughts like rage against evil grant one the power to do harm... but only mercy can grant one the ability to heal."

Felena says, "They do not hold to the principle of mercy... so they must get that, at least, in some other fashion."

Fizzlepocket whispers loudly to Nim..

Strand looks down, frowning, a touch disturbed.

Meris shakes her head at this.

Nim shoos Fizzlepocket away. Be gone pest!

Veras taps his chin

Fizzlepocket shoos Nim away. Be gone pest!

Lothorial grins wickedly at Nim.

Veras says, "There is no proof that specific virtues are tied to speific powers; it would make sense though that compassion would lead to healing though...."

Meris says, "You commit that an "evil" person never shows mercy, or can't love?"

Shaun says, "What if they do feel mercy, but their veiw is skewed enoguh that we seem tah be beyond fair limit's o' their mercy?"

Fizzlepocket glares at Nim... "This barrel is cooler anyways."

Cogitatus says, "((To Shaun)) That would then go back to the theory that the Light is something internal in its' source."

Felena says, "A small amount of mercy can be done by anyone. Any of thee can show mercy. But to have a focus within it, to have a faith in it that grants power, requires a deeper devotion than that, a very powerful one."

Meris shifts uncomfortably, drawing her knees up to her chest.

Gimilberry looks confused

Strand says, "I have trouble with relativism in this. Truth to tell, it strikes me as a form of despair."

Shaun says, "They are merciful tah each other, but tah them we curse thah land."

Spiderheart says, "But some of us have seen the Scarlet Crusaders raise their dead, ma'am."

Spiderheart says, "That's a lot of what you seem to want to tie to mercy."

Lothorial glances at spiderheart.

Meris says, "Or, ahh... heal wounds. The ones they *want* to heal."

Shadowshad seems to be sobering up.

Spiderheart says, "I'm not trying to provoke here, but to understand. I'm aware of being on the brink of a very dark and mysterious land."

Lothorial says, "Raising the dead is argueable, it can come from 2 sources."

Felena says, "Yes. What I am saying is that they do not possess sufficient mercy to accomplish such things through their virtue. Their healing, especially their reaction, must come from another source."

Spiderheart says, "Oh!"

Spiderheart says, "I see."

Felena says, "Er, especialy their ressurrection."

Spiderheart says, "Which leads back to my earlier wonderings about whos versus whats."

Conol looks at his goblin jumper cables while in thought

Lothorial says, "Do the scourge also not ressurect the dead?"

Meris says, "This is *all* theoretical."

Strand says, "Druids can ressurrect. For that matter, I've seen Forsaken do the same, not just on themselves."

Nim continues writing in his notebook, looking up from time to time.

Spiderheart says, "Well, not entirely, Meris, in that there are things happening and some of those whos I talked about out there to speak with."

Spiderheart says, "There's a practical, testable side to at least some of this."

Veras says, "The forsaken are as easy to explain as the Trolls. The Shadow."

Veras says, "The Trollish Philosophy that Pain teaches all."

Trinn glances curiously toward Spiderheart at "testable."

Spiderheart nods to Veras.

Spiderheart says, "Demons made them. Demons can give them power. And keep doing it despite changes in the middle layers of chain of command."

Strand says, "So... why not postulate that it's the Shadow slipping into the place of the Light in such cases, whether or not it's realized by those wielding the power?"

Cogitatus says, "That's something I was thinking, earlier, Strand."

Cogitatus says, "The Shadow taking over as a source of power without alerting the converted to the fact."

Veras says, "The quesiton however isn't about the Crusade, it is about what The Light, and by assosiation The Shadow are fundementally."

Felena says, "Indeed."

Spiderheart says, "Oh, there's nothing conceptually hard about it. It's the practical side: it _looks_ and _acts_ so much like the same power, whereas in general the different means to a goal end up looking distinctly different."

Strand says, "Right. Mmm. Spiderheart, how would you test it?"

Spiderheart says, "Which "it", Strand?"

Spiderheart grins.

Litania yawns.

Strand flicks a grin to Trinn, cheerful, then says "You tell me, Spider. You said there was a testable side to at least some of it."

Spiderheart says, "Oh!"

Spiderheart says, "Well, I meant that if you want to talk to one of what we call the Ancients, you can, in at least some cases."

Litania yawns again. The large stray paws Veras for some food.

Meris looks with interest to Spiderheart, her head resting on the tops of her knees.

Spiderheart says, "If you can get into Moonglade, you can talk to one of the husbands of Elune, and listen to his stories about their life together."

Rathandal walks up, attache case tucked under his arm and a bulging satchel of scrolls hanging from his shoulder. He struggles up the ramps and walks to the circle, smiling exasperatedly.

Spiderheart says, "You can see some of his power, too. And some of his father's, when the circumstances are right."

Veras says, "Elune has not been heard from for a.... *very* long time."

Fizzlepocket pulls a notepad out of his back pocket, leans up against the box behind him for support, and starts doodling while everyone else discusses... whatever.

Veras says, "At least in human terms."

Meris mutters under her breath "hmph, I suppose if you are going to be alive *that* long, you better have more than one husband... "

Theravan 's eyes narrow, but he listens quietly.

Stardancer wonders if she speaks about the lorekeeper.

Spiderheart says, "Well, true, Veras, but knowing you're here moves the existence of your grandfather from theory to rather solid fact, even if we don't know much about him."

Veras says, "Well... my grandfather is dead...."

Meris darts her eyes to Spiderheart. "Grandtfather?"

Veras sucks on his teeth

Meloria looks tipsy.

Veras says, "He *did* exist"

Eruk looks tipsy.

Strand nods cheerfully to Rathandal.

Veras says, "Proof of previous existance does not prove current."

Theravan blinks.

Spiderheart says, "Likewise, I'm told, if you can get up the slopes of Mount Hyjal, you'll find the charred remains of Archimonde waiting there. Gone now. But someone who doubted the reality of the Alliance or its enemies could find ready confirmation."

Spiderheart says, "No, of course not."

Eruk says, "burn cultists! burn!"

Theravan says, "....?"

Spiderheart says, "I mean to say that Elune is, or was, not a concept, but a person."

Rathandal smiles and sighs a little, stooping to drop his attache case and satchel.

Veras nods to Spiderheart

Spiderheart says, "And _some_ of the stories we tell about her can be checked out."

Rathandal gathers up his robes and takes a seat nearby.

Strand says, "Aye, we come back to that. Veras, were you meaning to imply something by saying that Elune hasn't been seen in a while?"

Spiderheart says, "Many can't, of course, and that's where "story" shades out of fact and itnto point making."

Veras looks to Strand and smirks

Veras says, "Indeed I do. Do people here know *why* the Well of Eternity was first studied?"

Spiderheart says, "What I really wonder, at heart, is whteher there aren't persons at the core of the Light na dthe Shadow, and we simply don't know who they are yet."

Spiderheart says, "I've heard at least a couple of claims about that, Veras."

Veras looks around and then looks to spider, he smiles

Lothorial says, "Had to do with the highborne"

Meris looks over the edge of the balcony and tosses a few small pebbles at Alerac.

Meloria seems to be sobering up.

Eruk seems to be sobering up.

Rathandal clears his throat softly and listens to the discussion, trying to get caught up.

Veras says, "The Well was origionally studied because the Priests of Elune thought that Elune lived int he depths of the Well."

Veras says, "Now, apparently, she lives in the Moon."

Veras says, "Since the Well was destroyed...."

Veras says, "Now I don't know of any sightings of her after the Well was destroyed."

Veras says, "So...."

Veras trails of, but smirks

Spiderheart says, "Oh, well, I must tell you some stories another time."

Strand says dryly, "Elliptical, still only an implication, but we take your meaning."

Stardancer says, "You can hear her in Winterspring...through the stone."

Stardancer says, "She speaks in the old tongue."

Veras looks to Stardancer

Stardancer says, "Which is translated by her priestess there."

Spiderheart says, "There are in fact at least two solid sightings of Elune in her flesh well after the Well of Eternity was destroyed. Dream visions and such I don't count here."

Veras says, "Well Illidan saved some waters from the well."

Veras looks back to Spiderheart

Veras says, "I assume you are going to mention when Deathwing was loose?"

Stardancer says, "I recently heard from her myself as did three others."

Spiderheart says, "No, that's too tangled and conflicted a mess, Veras."

Veras says, "Ah, well then let me interupt no more."

Spiderheart says, "Incidents with sons of Cenarius. But that's another time."

Veras says, "Mmmm, fair enough, I have no firm proof of my implications anyway."

Theravan says, "It was always my understanding that Sentinels drew their power from Elune...?"

Veras says, "merely suspicions as to why Elune always chooses non-action."

Spiderheart says, "Only indirectly, Theravan, or so I've had it told to me."

Strand says, "Oh, fallacy, Veras; that's arguing the conclusion."

Veras looks to Theravan then to Spiderheart and nods

Theravan says, "Veras..I would argue that her non-action is due to her Lunar essence."

Veras looks to Stand

Veras says, "merely supposition."

Veras looks back to Theravan

Gimilberry runs his hand over his head

Gimilberry rubs his chin

Spiderheart says, "I presume here that if Elune really wanted to show up and smack Veras, she could."

Veras says, "Really though; think about it, Elune has never helped directly. *ever*"

Strand says, grinning, "Fair point. But the refutation is that Elune acts by granting powers to her worshippers."

Shaun smiles and nods politely.

Cogitatus laughs at Spiderheart.

Spiderheart says, "Either she chooses not to for mysterious reasons of her own, or she cannot. In either case, the absence of smacking is somethign to deal with in talking about a person."

Stardancer says, "Actually, I would agree. It is the reason for druidism."

Rathandal looks from person to person, then down at the stones. He furrows his brow, resting chin against fist.

Veras says, "She stood ot the side when the Deathwing rode, she stood to the side when The Legion brought aobtu the end of the world."

Veras says, "Or, the known world at least."

Theravan says, "The Moon is reflected light, Veras. It does not shine directly like the sun."

Spiderheart nods.

Lothorial agrees with Veras.

Spiderheart says, "Others of the Ancients can and do act directly, though. Malorne, Cenarius' father, continues to appear from time to time, and to act. So does Cenarius. And Aviana. "

Silverdawn says, "How many people in this world don't exist because they do not directly interact? Pardon my interjection."

Conol waves at Maire.

Theravan smiles.

Stardancer nods to Spiderheart at the mention of Cenarius.

Spiderheart says, "I don't think it's insulting to note Elune's withdrawal from the world and wonder how thorough it is."

Rathandal says, "More than a few."

Rathandal mutters.

Nim turns around to Silverdawn and shrugs.

Veras turns to Silverdawn and blinks

Cogitatus says, "Pardon me for interrupting, but if anyone is hungry, I still have plenty of omelettes. We have been at this for two hours, now."

Spiderheart says, "Thanks, Cogitatus! I'll take one."

Cogitatus says, "Anyone want to eat? :)"

Veras says, "Well the priests claim she is a total passifist; but my theory has just as much to stand on as theirs. Ala not much."

Spiderheart stands and stretches.

Meris smiles in greeting to Arahshiel

Theravan shakes his head.

Silverdawn says, "Could you elaborate? I'm deeply intruigued."

Fizzlepocket peers down from his notepad to the back of Arahshiel's head... "Huh."

Arahshiel returns Meris' smile.

Conol says, "Has she withdwawn, or was she weakened when the well was destroyed, the same as the Legion"

Spiderheart says, "She's not acting directly. This seems a solid foundation to stand on."

Silverdawn nods thoughtfully.

Strand says, "The Legion wasn't weakened so much as made less able to touch our world. Anyhow."

Veras says, "Of course, Elune is a person or a personage but is rather famous amoung the Greater Powers for never entering combat, even when The Dragon Aspects were nearly killed."

Conol nods to Strand

Silverdawn nods, still thinking this over.

Spiderheart says, "Elune's power to her followers is really more like a political chain of command."

Silverdawn says, "I see. Interesting."

Cogitatus says, "The King sends the armies, but may not necessarily fight, himself."

Spiderheart says, "Once your liege lord gives you your armor and titles, you can keep acting even if he then retires to his gardens."

Veras looks to Spiderheart and blinks

Silverdawn says, "I would not assume Elune had any responsibility to take direct action."

Veras says, "The kings of our world *lead* armies"

Spiderheart says, "I think, actually, that some claims for Elune's role reflect a distortion of our traditional legacy, partly because of the example of the Silver Hand."

Veras says, "Maybe elves are different."

Cogitatus says, "Veras, I stand corrected."

Drahliana says, "if there is direct action to take in Elune's name, it would be Tyrande who would command it"

Strand nods. "Our rulers fight. I don't know, maybe -- aye, maybe Kaldorei are different."

Spiderheart says, "The Light is, or is supposed to be, all encompassing. "

Veras says, "Ah, not quite Spiderheart."

Spiderheart says, "Elune never was, in that sense, the supreme power of the world. Just one of the most powerful of the many Anchients, loved by some, respected by others."

Veras says, "May I elaborate on the philosophy of the light?"

Spiderheart says, "But not the _maker_ of a lot of else."

Spiderheart says, "Please do. I'm aware of my ignorance."

Veras stands again

Meris relaxes and uncoils herself.

Veras says, "All humans and people have souls, this we know."

Stardancer regards Veras.

Veras says, "I can prove it, but you all might be a bit upset"

Veras grins wickedly.

Lothorial laughs.

Cogitatus laughs.

Theravan smiles.

Conol says, "even dwarves ?"

Spiderheart says, "We grant it as a postulate!"

Veras says, "Anyway, the Philosophy of hte light teaches that all Souls are connected and, infact, the same thing."

Litania yawns.

Rathandal remains straight-faced, apparently not amused by the comment.

Lady Katrana Prestor yells: Seize him! Seize the worthless criminal and his allies!

Veras says, "That happiness and well being should be approached from a *very* communal level"

Stardancer remains open and listens.

Veras says, "As we area all part of one being it is all about doingt he most good for the group."

Spiderheart says, "Hmm."

Veras says, "In the past thirty years that has been exactly one purpose; stoping the Horde, Stoping hte Legion"

Veras says, "At any price."

Veras sits down again

Stardancer brows furrow a bit.

Spiderheart says, "Still, the distinction I want to draw here applies."

Meris says, "That was 2 purposes, was it not?"

Veras says, "Nope."

Conol smiles at Meris.

Arahshiel grins at Meris.

Veras says, "The Horde were the pawn of the Legion."

Meris says, "Ah. "Were"."

Veras says, "I do not really consider the current groupt he same "Horde" we are used to."

Drahliana says, "from what I have heard of scouts who ventured into the Undercity, I'd cast some doubt on the "were"."

Veras says, "They are *completely* different."

Spiderheart says, "The notion of Elune as totality _has_ ancient antecedents. But it was never, ever widely held, until the modern Alliance led to the influx of human ideas. And I think it's led to a patching on that may not, in fact, serve either side well."

Theravan says, "What do you mean by totality?"

Strand says, "The Horde and the Forsaken are ... mmph."

Nim looks down as his mechanical squirrel lets out a loud beeping noise. From its mouth, a small piece of paper prints out. Nim tears it loose and reads it promptly.

Spiderheart says, "An encompassing power, Theravan, representing all of...anything. Souls, the world, goodness, the night, whatever."

Rathandal murmurs and clears his throat before speaking up.

Spiderheart sighs.

Nim says, "um... gotta run, be back in a second!"

Spiderheart says, "I must hush myself more."

Strand looks to Rathandal.

Rathandal says, "The Horde, in it's current incarnation, is..."

Rathandal sighs and waves a hand dismissively.

Rathandal says, "Mm."

Rathandal says, "Another night."

Theravan says, "...And you would argue these beliefs have resurfaced because of our interactions with outside races? That is singularly....curious."

Lothorial says, "Regardless, the horde has as much right to exist as we do."

Strand gives Lothorial a thoughtful look.

Veras bites his tounge at Lothorial's comment

Potar stops his patrol and listens in on the conversation.

Cogitatus says, "I have to agree with Lothlorial on this. The Horde were manipulated by the Burning Legion against their will."

Strand says, "I'd say to Theravan that while it may be surprising that humans have affected Kaldorei, it seems nonetheless possible."

Spiderheart says, "Theravan, I'd say that the demonstrable power of the Silver Hand, the thrill of novelty, the need for comfort after the loss of Hyjal, and several other things all rolled together to make a distortion of Elune's true situation popular."

Lothorial says, "The forsaken cannot be blamed for dieing, the orcs cannot be blamed for being enslaved."

Theravan says, "Hmm. I disagree completely."

Stardancer says, "To discount them because they *appear* to oppose the alliance stance is narrow-minded."

Spiderheart says, "it can be summed up as "We'd like some of that too!""

Lothorial says, "The tauren and trolls embraces their shamanistic roots."

Veras says, "Lothorial, I can blame them fro being enslaved and destroying thier own world."

Strand raises his hand.

Stardancer says, "Tha Tauren also study under Cenarius."

Veras says, "But that is not the deabte at hand."

Strand then points at Veras.

Lothorial says, "Exactly, moving on."

Strand grins, and rests his hand back in his lap.

Drahliana says, "No, the tauren first studied under Malfurion, Cenarius was dead by the time they took up the druidic arts"

Conol says, "I blame them for killing my fiends and family, but thats a different discusion"

Silverdawn says, "Ishnu'ala. Have a pleasant evening."

Silverdawn bows down graciously.

Veras waves to Silverdawn

Theravan waves at Silverdawn.

Cogitatus waves at Silverdawn.

Stardancer says, "Malfurion also walked in Cenarius' teachings as do all druids."

Drahliana says, "As the orcs are new to Kalimdor, so the tauren to the studies of Cenarius"

Stardancer says, "Are you druid?"

Rathandal smooths his moustache down with an absent thumb, listening with mild interest.

Drahliana says, "I have been lectured by them enough. and I did study for the Druidical arts until I was turned away"

Adantigus bows down graciously.

Shaun yawns a bit, and slips away.

Veras waves at Adantigus.

Adantigus hails Veras.

Veras looks back to the debate

Drahliana says, "But I think we Hunters exist to remind you all of something"

Veras says, "I got a bit distracted; has someone gone unconested for a while?"

Veras closes his mouth and looks to Drahliana

Braskey yells, "Come on, men! Get those supplies down there, or those workers in 32-B won't have a chance! The fire is almost to the reactor core!"

Drahliana says, "that when trying to figure the motives of others..."

Strand says, "We still risk drifting to discussion of the Horde and the wars, but only a little risk. What is that thing, ma'am?"

Rathandal looks up suddenly as the voice echoes from a nearby grating in the ground.

Drahliana says, "remember that we are all Beasts before we are anything else and that we all have the same basic needs that the Beasts do."

Stardancer doesn't recall her at any of the druid circles.

Drahliana says, "A domain, to eat, to raise our young"

Spiderheart nods vigorously.

Rathandal quickly stands and gathers up his robes, shuffling over to his attache case.

Meris cocks a brow at Drahliana.

Veras chuckles at Drahliana.

Drahliana says, "All else is a luxury when these are not fulfilled"

Stardancer says, "I disagree."

Braskey yells, "Heave! Ho!"

Stardancer says, "Perhaps you were...but as Veras pointed out, we are more than the sum of our parts."

Rathandal drops to a knee and picks up his cases before standing again and nodding briefly to Strand.

Strand blinks, bemused.

Rathandal says, "Have a pleasant evening! Heh, emergency calls me elsewhere!"

Stardancer says, "Humans have brought us a hope with regard to a spiritual world."

Rathandal rushes off, huffing

Strand says, "Um. Good luck, Master Rathandal. Please don't blow up Stormwind."

Trinn watches Rathandal dart off, frowning.

Drahliana says, "We have had our spirituality for eons when the humans were just skin colored barbarians"

Drahliana says, "No offense meant."

Strand says, "The night wears on. Does anyone mind if I retake the floor to summarize?"

Meris murmurs "Skin colored?"

Stardancer says, "We were immortal, the spiritual were was not disclosed to us."

Spiderheart says, "Not at all, Strand."

Drahliana says, "no, not at all, this thinking is a bit much for me."

Theravan says, "You know, I really must disagree with what seems to be the prevalent interpretation of Elune."

Theravan falls suddenly quiet, and gestures to Strand. "Mm. Sorry."

Strand grins. "Theravan's floor, then I'll sum up. Or try to."

Conol nods in agreement with Theravan

Stardancer says, "I disagree with that as well Theravan."

Strand says, "No, if there's a viewpoint we've been missing, it ought to be touched on. We're not /answering/ questions, but we shouldn't skip any of them either."

Arahshiel gently pats Mechanical Squirrel.

Theravan says, "I may not be as old as some of you sisters....but I was always taught that Elune was divine. Meaning, beyond this world, not of anything we exist or can touch. Beyond our definitions of dimension or existence."

Stardancer nods.

Theravan says, "The ancient texts, as well, do refer to Elune, and Cenarius, and Malorne as being, literally..."

Theravan says, "[Darnassian] neph'o "

Saral blinks.

Stardancer says, "That is as I remember reading them too."

Stardancer nods.

Saral says, "Neph'o?"

Theravan smiles. "Divine."

Theravan says, "I do not know of what the Druids believe, I can only speak in my capacity as a simple hunter."

Litania yawns and looks the other way, then proceeds to look back at Veras, and yawns again.

Spiderheart remembers not to grab the floor for another lectue.

Theravan says, "I do know that to me, Elune is rather real, and every time I enter Her temple, I feel that divinity."

Fizzlepocket says, "Duty calls. Orcs in the Stormwind Tram again."

Drahliana says, "don't discount yourself Theravan, the Druids may take the shape of the animals, but they do not understand them the way we do."

Strand says, "Good luck, Fizzlepocket."

Theravan shrugs. "It is a different type of understanding."

Veras says, "Druids understand animals on a much more basic, but much less *useful* level."

Stardancer says, "It is actually a spirit, Theravan...the spirit of the great animal not the animal iteself."

Veras says, "May I explain?"

Stardancer says, "Almost Totemic..."

Theravan says, "Ours is a seeming mastery of nature....Druids have always wished to convene with it."

Stardancer says, "She mispeaks."

Strand says, "Different topic!"

Strand grins.

Theravan says, "Go on, Veras, I did not mean to run over you there with my talking."

Veras looks to Strand and smirks

Veras says, "May I add my two cents first?"

Stardancer regards Veras.

Strand considers. "I'm going to summarize, then I'm going to leave the floor and call this a success."

Veras nods

Drahliana relaxes, shrugging off her Aspect as her features lose their hint of animalism.

Stardancer decides not to to give a lecutre about hunters and expects the same regard.

Strand says, "All right. Elune and the Light -- their natures are unclear, which does not surprise me, but there's been little support for the idea that they're the same in any way."

Felena says, "It is time for me to depart, return to prayers."

Theravan waves at Felena.

Veras waves at Felena.

Strand says, "Except... in effects, which is not unimportant. Interesting, that. Good night, Dame Felena."

Trinn smiles at Felena.

Meris nods at Felena.

Cogitatus waves at Felena.

Arahshiel smiles at Felena.

Jorii says, "sorry to interupt but i must say my goodnights to you all "

Spiderheart curtsies before Felena.

Drahliana says, "[Darnassian] thus talah Belore"

Trinn nods politely at Jorii.

Cogitatus says, "Bye, Jorii."

Cogitatus waves at Jorii.

Saral waves goodbye to Jorii. Farewell!

Jorii says goodnight to everyone

Drahliana says, "good night Felena"

Felena says, "If I may say one last thing?"

Strand says, "Good night, sir; thank you for coming."

Jorii waves goodbye to everyone. Farewell!

Strand says, "Please, Dame Felena."

Arahshiel nods at Jorii.

Meris looks expectantly at Felena

Felena says, "I *DO* find Elune and the Light to be much the same... as they are both based around love. They are divine, and that divinity is wonderful. I do not see a need for there to be a real difference between them."

Theravan grins.

Stardancer smiles to Felena

Strand grins, warm.

Meris rolls her eyes.

Felena says, "...and I do not see anything irrational about the irrationality that two such separate forces could ultimately just be the same."

Felena says, "That is all."

Strand says, "Comes back to that, doesn't it? Reality matters. What happens matters."

Trinn lowers her head to hide a brief frown.

Felena says, "I wish thee a pleasant night, my dear friends."

Theravan grins. "After all, the moon also shines light."

Felena curtsies.

Felena nods at Theravan.

Drahliana says, "Good night"

Felena says, "Just so!"

Potar nods to himself, giving a smile toward Felena.

Stardancer bows before Felena.

Felena smiles at Stardancer.

Drahliana says, "I asked Moonwillow about this once."

Cogitatus waves at Felena.

Drahliana says, "She replied that Elune encompasses Shadow as well as Light."

Drahliana says, "So the Light is at best an imperfect understanding of one of her aspects."

Lothorial motions back and forth uneasily.

Conol raises his hand in the air.

Veras says, "But.... Elune doesn't smite evil...."

Stardancer says, "Shadow is not necessarily indicative of imperfection."

Theravan says, "....?"

Veras says, "And nor do her priests.... it took a lot of convincing to get help..."

Veras shakes his head

Strand says firmly, "I'm summing up. Otherwise I'll never get off this balcony."

Trinn nods at Strand.

Veras says, "Anyway, summary"

Theravan shakes his head at Veras.

Cogitatus says, "Indeed, Strand."

Spiderheart giggles at you.

Potar realises that he had been lax on his patrol and resumes his march.

Cogitatus laughs.

Strand says, "Elune has clear presence in the world; perhaps that's a nature different than people, perhaps it's just that she is the far end of a scale that begins with us."

Strand says, "As a moderator, I think I have to be impartial. Ask me over a beer what I think."

Theravan laughs at you.

Trinn grins.

Cogitatus laughs.

Drahliana stares at Strand quizzically

Stardancer giggles.

Theravan laughs. "Or many."

Cogitatus says, "...or one of my dishes. :)"

Spiderheart says, "How many beers are we talking about here?"

Strand says, "The Light, if there's any presence beyond what we feel... if it's an entity... has not shown itself to us. We know it by its effects."

Stardancer gestures about a tall flagon or two.

Ivan waves to the group, noticing a few people in it.

Ivan hails everyone around him.

Veras removes a soulshar from his robes and rolls it in his palm

Conol waves at Ivan.

Strand says, "Another open question: is it will? Is it the embodiment of virtues? Do fallen priests and paladins still have access to Light, or is it masked Shadow?"

Veras mumbles "I hold the light in my hand"

Trinn nods back at Ivan.

Meris smiles at Ivan.

Lothorial glances at Veras.

Strand says, "I think we wound up with more questions than when we started, which makes me happy."

Saral says, "Curious."

Cogitatus laughs.

Meris gives Veras a curious look.

Strand grins back at Saral. "That's me in a nutshell."

Theravan grins.

Ivan smirks slightly, listening to Veras and clanking as quietly as he can up to the tier to listen.

Trinn frowns at Veras.

Saral says, "Philosophy is the only thing where you know you're successful if you give yourself MORE work when you're finished!"

Cogitatus laughs at Saral.

Veras frowns a bit then looks up

Veras says, "Mmmm? Oh! Of course"

Stardancer nods in agreement.

Strand laughs happily. "So true. Thus, I am declaring my own personal victory, and decamping."

Lothorial says, "Or to drive you increasingly mad."

Saral grins.

Theravan claps excitedly for you.

Stardancer claps excitedly for you.

Spiderheart cheers at you.

Theravan says, "Thank you, Strand. You are a thoughtful moderator."

Cogitatus claps excitedly for Saral.

Strand says, "I'll be back again in two weeks; I hope some of you will; and I hope nobody feels obliged to leave just because I am."

Stardancer says, "Thank you for hosting!"

Trinn smiles. "Well done, Strand."

Cogitatus says, "Okay, since we're finished...."

Cogitatus says, "Anyone for omelettes?"

Saral nods to strand with a smile... not a smirk.

Drahliana says, "I think I'll suggest my priestess come here, she can translate this for me."

Strand stands, creaking somewhat.

Drahliana says, "She's more the thinking time than I by far."

Drahliana says, "type"

Spiderheart stretches.

Trinn waves around at the group, and slips off the balcony. "Night, all. Fascinating stuff."

Strand smiles at Drahliana. "The more the merrier. Oh -- send me suggestions for topics."

Cogitatus says, "Anyone for a [Curiously Tasty Omelet]?"

Theravan looks down at Trinn.

Meris stretces out, rubbing her forehead absently.

Strand says, "Not that I'll run out soon, even just based on what we've touched tonight."

Cogitatus says, "Indeed."

Aelaren hugs Spiderheart.

Veras sighs and stands up

Veras says, "Ironic I draw on the same source..."

Veras places the soulshard back in his robes

Meris says, "Omelettes, Veras?"

Trinn smiles at Theravan, waving tiredly.

Saral says, "I think I should be off."

Strand says, "Trinn, quick word?"

Veras says, "No, the power of souls, of willpower."

Meris smirks at Veras.

Litania yawns.

Cogitatus laughs at Meris.

Saral says, "It's getting a bit late, and Ironforge is a fair walk home."

Strand beckons Theravan down.

Trinn nods. "Aye, though I'm about to sleep on my feet."

Lothorial says, "How about those muffins Veras?"

Veras says, "Hmmmm, I am sad it is over."

Spiderheart nods at Veras.

Veras says, "Eh? Muffins?"

Strand says, "Well, while walking, then -- it's about that thing at the Cathedral Friday night. You two remember."

Veras says, "I only made half my points."

Veras grins

Drahliana says, "hmmm... too much food and I lose my edge. a hunter needs to keep herself lean."

Veras says, "I'll save a few"

Lothorial says, "From the chat we had with Nim."

Cogitatus says, "Sorry, I don't have any muffins. Only omelettes."

Drahliana says, "and fast."

Stardancer bows before you.

Cogitatus bows down graciously.

Saral flips off the edge and lands catlike.

Strand makes a bow to Stardancer.

Stardancer says, "Thank you sir, for hosting the evening."

Spiderheart curtsies before Meris.

Cogitatus says, "Well, Good Night, everyone. :)"

Strand says, "It was a true pleasure."
